Youth Programs

YWCA of Greater Lowell Project STEP
(Strategies for Employment Preparation)

The YWCA, Project STEP is an after school and summer work experience program designed to provide educational, occupational and personal growth development activities to encourage youth to stay in school and prepare for life after graduation. This program is based at the Acre Youth Center, 41 Rock Street in Lowell. During the summer, youth have the opportunity to work as Camp Counselor's for the YWCA 'Summer in the City' Camp Program. Youth learn through hands-on training which incorporates reading and math exercises applicable to their day-to-day activities, as well as measurable skills attainments such as completion of CPR/First AID Training, and facilitation of structured activities with younger children.
