Mission

The Greater Lowell Workforce Investment Board, working in partnership with the Chief Elected Office (Lowell City Manager) provides policy guidance for workforce development initiatives in the Greater Lowell area.

The Board works in concert with business, education, labor and other agencies dedicated to improving and promoting economic sufficiency for residents of Greater Lowell.

Who We Are

The Greater Lowell Workforce Investment Board (GLWIB) is a private non-profit organization consisting of private business representatives, educational leaders, community based organizations, local and state agencies, economic and other workforce development groups.

Youth Programs

 

Merrimack Valley Catholic Charities - Young Parent Program
Merrimack Valley Catholic Charities (MVCC)

Young Parent Program provides GED preparation and vocational exploration for pregnant or parenting out-of-school youth between the ages of 16-21. Youth attend GED preparation classes Monday through Thursday from 8:30 - 1:45pm and on Friday's from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. GED classes are augmented with parenting classes, career exploration, computer skills training, personal and career counseling and pre-employment skills training classes. Work experience internships are also available. In addition to GED attainment, youth are also helped in efforts to secure employment, identify advance training, or post secondary education and/or entrance into the military.
