Mission

The Greater Lowell Workforce Investment Board, working in partnership with the Chief Elected Office (Lowell City Manager) provides policy guidance for workforce development initiatives in the Greater Lowell area.

The Board works in concert with business, education, labor and other agencies dedicated to improving and promoting economic sufficiency for residents of Greater Lowell.

Who We Are

The Greater Lowell Workforce Investment Board (GLWIB) is a private non-profit organization consisting of private business representatives, educational leaders, community based organizations, local and state agencies, economic and other workforce development groups.

WIA In School Programs

Middlesex Community College~Latino Connections

Middlesex Community College, in partnership with Lowell High School, offers a comprehensive intervention and drop-out prevention program for high risk students based at Lowell High School. The office is located in Room 323. LHS students who have a history of absenteeism, course failure, detentions and suspensions as well as involvement with the Department of Children and Families, and/or Department of Youth Services are earmarked for services. Utilizing a case management approach, youth receive academic tutoring, personal and career counseling, leadership development, and mentoring throughout the school year. Participation in a paid summer work experience internship is also available. The goal of the program is for each youth is to remain in school until graduation. Postgraduate services include post secondary education placement, employment, and/or entrance into the military.
